The reigning aesthetic, dubbed “the emerging avantpop” by executive and artistic director Preston Stahly, welcomes a wide variety of composers, united by creative engagement with popular culture.

TRIBECA NEW MUSIC FESTIVAL

The Tribeca New Music Festival is an annual series of concerts that takes place each spring in New York City. Started in 2001 at The Flea Theater in Tribeca, the Festival has expanded beyond the neighborhood and has spread the downtown, pop culture, spirit of Tribeca throughout the city and beyond.

The goal is to program and perform a new classical music that reflects one of the most important aesthetic influences in our American contemporary environment, popular culture. The Festival has become a nexus for composers, performers, the public, and adventurous music lovers who have a passion for the art music of our time.
